One problem I faced with this furniture is that it splits from the bottom due to regular contact with rough floors. The solution I found was placing rubber stoppers underneath its legs to reduce friction. This really works. For rest of the maintenance its regular things like dusting or vacuuming once in few days....

You can install hard wood floors which are my personal favorite as it can create a rustic as well as an elegant atmosphere. However they are expensive and can be replaced by Laminate flooring which is economical and durable along with being stylish....
